Please join us in offering a very warm welcome to Elayne Elliott as she steps up into her new role as Chapter Director of the Sierra Club Michigan Chapter! Elayne has already shown her passion and commitment to the Sierra Club, first as an intern, then as the Green Stormwater Infrastructure organizer in Detroit, and now as our new Chapter Director. Anyone who has had the chance to interact with her are impressed and we are excited about the fresh perspective, energy, and talent she brings to the Chapter.
Over the past eleven years, Gail Philbin has led the Michigan Chapter through some of our most successful campaigns. Under Gail’s leadership, we have shut down coal plants, protected our forests, implemented new state regulations for copper, lead & PFAS, increased funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and more. We are happy for Gail and wish her the very best in her retirement - she deserves it!
Now, Gail is passing the torch to Elayne and we couldn’t be more excited. In Elayne’s own words “I’m honored to begin this new chapter as the Director of Michigan Sierra Club and bring my organizing skills and grassroots experience to the job and continue our mission to explore, enjoy, and protect our planet.”
