Gaithersburg Adopts County Pesticide Law

The Montgomery County Sierra Club testified twice this year (in January and July) to advocate and urge the Gaithersburg City Council to adopt the Montgomery County Pesticide Law. It was adopted recently on Aug 18th. The decision was announced in the following press release:  https://www.gaithersburgmd.gov/Home/Components/News/News/2038/16?

Enacted in May of 2019, the Montgomery County Pesticide Law restricts the use of certain pesticides on lawns, playgrounds, mulched recreation areas, and childcare facilities to protect people, pets, and the environment. The law did not apply to businesses and residents in the City of Gaithersburg until the Mayor and City Council voted to adopt the law at their meeting on August 17, 2020. The County’s law will take effect in Gaithersburg as of December 1, 2020.
