All year long, dedicated Maryland Sierra Club supporters like you help protect our state's natural heritage. Each fall, some of them are elected by our membership to lead these efforts by serving on the Chapter and local Group Executive Committees (ExComs). Any Maryland member in good standing is eligible to run for a seat on the ExCom -- including you!
The all-volunteer ExComs carry out crucial leadership responsibilities within the Club. From organizing educational programs & outings to recruiting activists, from managing the staff & budget to endorsing pro-environment candidates, our ExComs help us work towards a safer, healthier planet.
Between now and September 15th, the Maryland Club is recruiting candidates to run for open seats on the 2025 ExComs. If you treasure Maryland's natural places, you can learn more about the ExComs, nominate yourself or another member, or explore other Club leadership opportunities by clicking here!
The election will be held via electronic means and (for those without email) paper ballot between November 1st and December 6th, 2024. The two-year terms start in January, 2025.
By September 15th, candidates must submit to the relevant Nominations Committee their contact information and a statement of no more than 250 words total that answers these three questions:
What would you like to accomplish as an Executive Committee member?
What skills, experience and/or new ideas will you bring to the Executive Committee?
How will your role on the Executive Committee reflect diversity? (Diversity can include ethnicity, age, regions within Maryland, affiliations with under-represented groups, etc.)
Please consider contributing your passion, talents, and experience to your Chapter or local Group ExCom! There are many volunteer opportunities. The green button below will take you to more information, plus a list of Nominations Committee members who can discuss the responsibilities and time commitment involved and answer your questions about this vital leadership role.
