We recommend choosing one or two bills to reach out to your legislators about at a time. The list will be updated regularly as our priorities continue to be voted on in the legislature. Each bill has Sierra Club testimony hyperlinked, as well as other resources.

SIERRA CLUB MAINE 'SUPPORT' PRIORITIES
Ensure a just and livable future for all:
- LD 78 - restore language regarding Maine Indian treaty obligations to all printed copies of the Maine Constitution (Read our testimony)
- LD 2004 - Restore access to laws beneficial to Wabanaki tribes (Read our testimony)
- LD 1970 - enact the Maine Indian Child Welfare Act (Read our testimony)
Incentivize a robust public transit system to address the 49% of emissions that come from the transportation sector in Maine:
- LD 1170 - Promote passenger rail for commuters (Read our testimony)
- LD 1559 - Increase public transit funding & reinvigorate the Public Transit Authority Council (Read our testimony, check out this fact sheet, and read this op-ed from Executive Committee and Legislative Team member Jacob Stern!)
Create a sustainable and equitable offshore wind industry in Maine:
- LD 1818 (now LD 1847) - Set strong standards for offshore wind port labor (Read our testimony)
- LD 1895 - Ensure that offshore wind in Maine is responsibly developed to deliver clean energy, support communities, and mitigate environmental harm (Read our testimony, and fact sheet here!)
Ensure our natural resources and future generations are protected from the effects of climate change and other major threats to the environment of Maine:
- LD 928 - the Pine Tree Amendment - Amend the Maine Constitution to to Establish a Right to a Clean and Healthy Environment (Read our testimony, and fact sheet here!)
- LD 1111 - Locally and transparently approved contracts for large scale water extraction (Read our testimony)
Support a just energy transition:
- LD 524 - Require the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in new commercial and multifamily parking lot construction (Read our testimony)
- LD 542 - set performance-based goals for our electricity distribution companies (Read our testimony)

- LD 1549 - which would initiate a study of technologically dubious and dangerous Small Modular Nuclear Reactors (SMRs) - (Read our fact sheet)
