You're Invited! 2024 Annual Celebration
September 19, 6:30-8pm | Maine Beer Co., Freeport
Sierra Club Maine will hold its annual celebration for social and environmental justice September 19th, 6:30-8:00pm at Maine Beer Company in Freeport. The public is invited to join us as we celebrate our impact in 2024 and discuss our collective goals for the future. Doors open at 5:30pm. |
The evening will feature a special address by Dr. Susana Hancock, scientist and polar explorer. Dr. Hancock is someone who goes to the ends of the Earth to save the climate. LIterally. Every year, the Maine-native clicks into her skis to conduct research on some of the world's most vulnerable ecosystems: the polar ice caps. Susana has been on three polar expeditions as a scientist. She is now in the final stages of preparations to ski 1000km across Greenland where she will study how methane and other planet-warming gases are coming through the polar ice at still unestablished quantities. The celebration will also include a live auction, a partner award presentation, woodfired pizza, oysters from Glidden Point Oyster Company, and other tasty fare, and of course great company with friends old and new! “We are really excited to bring our amazing members and supporters together to celebrate our collective work over the past year and showcase inspiring things on the horizon for the chapter,” Pete shared. Please register here. Sierra Club Maine would like to thank its sponsors: Evergreen Home Performance, GoGo Refill, Tandem Coffee, Gorham Savings Bank, Piper Shores, Lamey Wellehan, Ecology School, Union of Concerned Scientists, Maine Beer Company, Inn by the Sea, Sea Bags, and Maine Audubon, and its host committee: Becky Bartovics (Committee Chair), Jonathan Fulford, Beverly Roxby, and Dinah Minot—thank you! |
