Below you'll find the Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter endorsements and results for federal, state, and local candidates and ballot measures in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
Votes are still being counted, results below are as of November 15, 2016. For the latest official results, see the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters Results and the San Mateo County Registrar of Voters Results.

President
- Hillary Clinton won California’s 55 electoral votes, with 61.5% of the vote, but lost nationwide. Despite winning the popular vote, Clinton will lose in the Electoral College.
U.S. Senate
- Kamala Harris won, with 67.2% of the vote in Santa Clara County and 71.9% of the vote in San Mateo County
U.S. Congress
- CA District 12 : Nancy Pelosi won, with 81.6% of the vote
- CA District 14 : Jackie Speier won, with 81.0% of the vote
- CA District 17 : Mike Honda lost, with 39.4% of the vote
- CA District 18 : Anna Eshoo won, with 70.4% of the vote
- CA District 19 : Zoe Lofgren won, with 73.9% of the vote.
State Propositions
- Proposition 56 (Cigarette Tax) : YES won, with 62.9% of the vote
- Proposition 58 (End Bilingual Restriction) : YES won, with 72.4% of the vote
- Proposition 59 (Resolution to Overturn Citizens United) : YES won, with 52.3% of the vote
- Proposition 67 (End Plastic Bags) : YES won, with 52.0% of the vote
California State Legislature
- Senate District 11 : Jane Kim lost, with 47.5% of the vote
- Senate District 13 : Jerry Hill won, with 76.1% of the vote
- Senate District 15 : Jim Beall won, with 63.5% of the vote
- Senate District 17 : Bill Monning won, with 65.0% of the vote
- Assembly District 19 : Phil Ting won, with 80.1% of the vote
- Assembly District 22 : Kevin Mullin won, with 74.5% of the vote
- Assembly District 24 : Vicki Veenker lost, with 46.5% of the vote
- Assembly District 25 : Kansen Chu won, with 72.8% of the vote
- Assembly District 27 : Ash Kalra won, with 53.2% of the vote
- Assembly District 29 : Mark Stone won, with 66.0% of the vote
Santa Clara County City Councils
- Campbell : Donald Young lost, coming in fourth with 15.4% of the vote
- Cupertino : David Fung lost, coming in fourth with 14.5% of the vote, Rod Sinks won, coming in first with 21.3% of the vote
- Gilroy : Tom Fisher trails, coming in fourth with 13.8% of the vote, Dan Harney lost, coming in sixth with 11.7% of the vote, Fred Tovar won, coming in first with 17.8% of the vote
- Los Altos : Jan Pepper won, coming in first with 23.8% of the vote, Jeannie Bruins won, coming in second with 17.9% of the vote
- Los Altos Hills : Peter Evans lost, coming in fifth with 17.1% of the vote, Roger Spreen leads, coming in third with 18.5% of the vote
- Milpitas Mayor : Carmen Montano lost, coming in third with 23.4% of the vote
- Milpitas : Gunawan Alisantosa lost, coming in sixth with 10.5% of the vote, Mark Tiernan lost, coming in fifth with 12.0% of the vote
- Morgan Hill : Rene Spring won, coming in first with 32.0% of the vote
- Mountain View : John McAlister won, coming in fourth with 14.3% of the vote, Chris Clark won, coming in third with 14.5% of the vote, Lisa Matichak won, coming in first with 15.9% of the vote, Margaret Abe-Koga won, coming in second with 15.7% of the vote
- Palo Alto : Arthur Keller lost, coming in fifth with 11.8% of the vote, Lydia Kou won, coming in fourth with 13.3% of the vote, Liz Kniss won, coming in first with 18.0% of the vote, Greer Stone lost, coming in seventh with 7.9% of the vote
- San Jose District 2 : Sergio Jimenez won, with 54.7% of the vote
- San Jose District 6 : Helen Chapman lost, with 46.1% of the vote
- Santa Clara Seat 4 : Raj Chahal lost, coming in third with 27.0% of the vote
- Santa Clara Seat 6 : Suds Jain lost, coming in third with 15.6% of the vote
- Santa Clara Seat 7 : Teresa O'Neill won, coming in first with 57.8% of the vote
- Saratoga : Manny Cappello won, coming in first with 39.1% of the vote, Dede Smullen lost, coming in third with 27.4% of the vote
- Sunnyvale Seat 6 : Nancy Smith won, with 66.1% of the vote
- Sunnyvale Seat 7 : Tara Martin-Milius lost, coming in second with 45.3% of the vote
San Mateo County City Councils
- Daly City : Dana Smith lost, coming in third with 15.1% of the vote, Glenn Sylvester won, coming in first with 30.9% of the vote
- Half Moon Bay : Adam Eisen won, coming in first with 34.8% of the vote, Harvey Rarback won, coming in second with 31.3% of the vote
- Menlo Park : Ray Mueller won, coming in first with 36.5% of the vote
- Pacifica : Dierdre Martin won, coming in second with 28.0% of the vote
County Ballot Measures
- Santa Clara County Measure A ($950 Million Affordable Housing Bonds): YES won, with 67.3% of the vote
- Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Measure B (30 year sales tax extension): NO position supported by the Sierra Club lost, with 28.8% of the vote
- San Mateo County Measure K (Sales tax extension benefiting Parks & Affordable Housing): YES won, with 67.36% of the vote
City Ballot Measures
- Pacifica Measure W (Quarry Development Entitlement) : NO position supported by the Sierra Club won, with 68.4% of the vote
- Cupertino Measure D (Vallco Specific Plan) : NO position supported by the Sierra Club won, with 55.1% of the vote
- Gilroy Measure H (Setting Urban Boundary) : YES won, with 65.6% of the vote
- Milpitas Measure I (Prolonging Urban Boundary Ordinance) : YES won, with 73.0% of the vote
- Milpitas Measure J (Prolonging Hillside Ordinance) : YES won, with 79.3% of the vote
- Milpitas Measure K (Require 2/3 Vote to Rezone Parks) : YES won, with 84.7% of the vote
- Santa Clara Measure R (Require 2/3 Vote to Sell or Lease Open Space & Parks) : YES won, with 89.25% of the vote
Special District Boards/Councils
- Santa Clara Open Space Authority District 4 : Dorsey Moore won, with 56.9% of the vote
- San Mateo County Harbor District 2 Year Term : Ed Larenas won, with 77.9% of the vote
- San Mateo County Harbor District 4 Year Term : Sabrina Brennan won, coming in first with 31.8% of the vote
- Montara Water and Sanitary District: Scott Boyd won, coming in second with 33.9% of the vote, Kathryn Slater-Carter won, coming in first with 37.6% of the vote
- Midcoast Community Council 2 Year Term : Barbra Mathewson lost, with 35.4% of the vote
