As of March 23, 2019, David Van Gilder and Celia Elder were certified by the chapter director, as official Outings Leaders! The certification involved completion of various online training modules developed by National Sierra Club, First Aid/CPR/AED certificate, and a supervised hike with Bowden Quinn, Hoosier Chapter Director.
What does having official outings leaders mean for our group?
This opportunity changes what we previously had the capacity to do as a group. We can now take official Sierra Club group organized hikes wherever we wish to go! We will continue to host meetings and social gatherings to discuss important issues, and to plan for future programming and campaigns. We will explore this year; we can visit hidden treasures in Allen, Dekalb, Steuben, Lagrange, Whitley, Huntington, Wells county and others.
Future Northeast Indiana group events will be posted here and on our Facebook page. You can also sign up to receive e-mail updates by sending message to, nein.sierraclub@gmail.com. We're all volunteers, so I promise we won't bombard your inox! The Hoosier Chapter also has a list of group hikes and events all over the state on their outings page.
