Newsletter- May 2023 update from Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter
May 27, 2023
Find out about our Conservation Committee and how to get involved!
Hi Supporter,
It's been a busy year at Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter so far! In this newsletter, we shine a spotlight on our Conservation Committee, our legislative scorecard, plus all our regular features.
Happy reading!
2023 Legislative Scorecard Published -
how did your legislators do?
Many of you stepped up to help to take on a colossal challenge this spring: Pushing back against anti-environmental legislators in Indiana. It was a brutal legislative session that we summed up in three words: Greed, Hate and Harm.
But thanks to local Sierra Club members and supporters like you, we're not letting lawmakers get away with votes that put profits over our climate, clean water, and wild places. This month we released our 2023 Legislative Scorecard, grading Indiana’s legislators and Governor Holcomb on their records. I urge you to read it and share it broadly. Our work to expose these lawmakers is just beginning - and it wouldn't be happening without you.
Thank you for rising up on behalf of Indiana's environment!

Chapter Director

Chair: Julie Lowe. Meets: monthly on the 4th Tuesday at 5pm ET by phone.
Our Conservation Committee is one of our longest-running and most active committees.
The Conservation Committee does vital work protecting, preserving, and defending our forests and wildlife habitats.
If you have a passion for conservation and would like to find out more, complete this brief interest form and we can discuss how you can get involved!
Sierra Club staff and volunteer leaders are passionate about getting out there and spreading the word about issues that matter to Hoosiers!
In case you missed it, earlier this month we sent out an email celebrating Earth Month and the activities we participated in at Sierra Club in Indiana.
This month's photo comes from our Chapter Coordinator, Rebecca Dien Johns:
"I love discovering new places in our state. Some friends brought me to this beautiful little spot at Lower Cascades Park in Bloomington, and I had no idea it existed before that day! It was a very easy short hike along the boardwalk to this little oasis in nature. Very cool rock formations too!"
Do you have a photograph of Indiana nature that you would like to share? We'd love to see it and perhaps feature it in a future newsletter!
