Support SB 335 (and its House counterpart, HB 1453), which would establish a climate task force to review issues related to sustainability and clean energy solutions.
We are really excited to be welcoming brand new Executive Committee members to our chapter!
Congratulations to Lora Kemp, Mark Nowotarski, and Joab Schultheis. Look out for biographies of these new leaders in the next newsletter!
We are also very pleased to be welcoming back Shannon Anderson who was reelected to the Executive Committee.
Thank you so much to all our candidates, and to everyone who participated in the election.
Spotted!
Sierra Club staff and volunteer leaders are passionate about getting out there and spreading the word about issues that matter to Hoosiers!
Sierra Club supporters and volunteers were spotted on a service hike on the Hayes Trail in the Deam Wilderness with HNF botanist Eve Phelps, organized by Mary Reardon.
Uplands Network volunteer leader, Marilyn Bauchat: "We hiked with our loppers to a site about 3 miles in where Eve demonstrated the best practice for eradicating invasive multiflora rose. Dozens of native plant species were identified with her assistance."
Tougher EPA Methane Regulations Could Improve Indiana Air Quality: "While CO2 hangs around for a longer amount of time, methane is actually a worse climate disrupter many times over in the near term. That's why it's so important to address it." - Senior Beyond Coal Campaign Representative Wendy Bredhold in the Public News Service.
Winding Waters Group native plant sale
Winding Waters Group is excited to announce that we will begin our annual native plant sale on February 1st. We are thrilled to once again be sharing in the creation of personal as well as community pollinator habitats.
Please check out our Facebook page for our event in order to browse the 2023 plant brochure. We have decided to alternate the selections each year going forward, so that you can pick your favorites a bit easier. Each plant will have the standard cost of $5. This sale will last until April 1st and all orders will need to be turned in by then so we can finalize the full order in time. Our pick up day will be May 12th, and as always, it will be held at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair Grounds from 2- 5:30 pm. We will announce the building number on Facebook as soon as we are given the information.
If you have any questions, please email Julie Lowe at j_lowe66@yahoo.com
Thank you to reader Libby Gwynn for contributing this photo. She says, "I took this photo in October at Greens Bluff, a Nature Conservancy property in Owen County. There's a lovely loop hike we enjoy there."
Do you have a photograph of Indiana nature that you would like to share?
We'd love to see it and perhaps feature it in a future newsletter!
