Boise's Open Houses for our Energy Future

The Idaho Chapter Sierra Club has been hard at work for the past three years bringing together community members in a conversation about 100 percent clean energy for all. In Boise, the Sierra Club has mobilized the support of thousands of community members, students, faith & community leaders, and local businesses throughout the city for a vision of 100 percent clean energy.

Since the Sierra Club launched the Ready for 100 campaign in 2016, we have seen almost 100 cities commit to 100 percent clean energy! Today 15 percent of the U.S. population, or one in seven people, live in a community committed to 100 percent clean energy. Earlier this year Mayor David Bieter announced the City of Boise was committing to 100% clean energy for municipal operations by 2030. This commitment represents a huge step forward and great leadership from Boise! But as Mayor Bieter indicated, there is more to be done and Boise is working on setting a much more ambitious goal!

As excitement around the country and here in our community has grown for clean energy, the City of Boise is dedicated to defining the feasibility of pathways to increase renewable energy by setting a clean energy goal community-wide. Over the past year, with dedicated city staff and expert consultants, Boise put together a plan for Boise's Energy Future wtih a proposed set of clean energy goals that will benefit the entire community. This plan was presented to a stakeholder group of energy experts and conservation groups, and now the City of Boise is brining it to you

The City of Boise announced a series of open houses for the public to learn more about their clean energy work. With three in person opportunities and one Facebook live session, everyone will have a chance to chat with city leadership about Boise's Energy Future. The open house format is very casual, so you can stop by at any time to peruse the information tables and provide your feedback on Boise's clean energy goals! It is that easy!

This is our opportunity to tell Boise leaders we support their clean energy work and expect to see Boise set a 100 percent clean energy goal for the entire community. If you plan to attend to advocate for a 100 percent clean energy goal in Boise or would like more information from the Ready for 100 campaign, RSVP using the links below.
