February Excom.

Excom approve having an electronic election and approve the schedule below.

March Turtle Tracks

Article in the March Turtle Tracks announces the election process, including the approved Election Schedule.

June Excom.

Chair announces that a Nominating Committee will be formed in July and seeks candidates from among Excom. members and other volunteers.

July Excom.

Chair announces the members of the Nominating Committee for approval by Excom.
Chair announces that an Elections Committee will be formed in August and seeks candidates from among Excom. members and other volunteers.

Mid-July

Nominating Committee meets to discuss how many seats need filling, what incumbents will be running, plan for finding candidates, and other duties, including preparing article for August Turtle Tracks.

August Turtle Tracks

August Excom or via email in early-mid August if there is no August Excom.

Nominating Committee presents written progress report to Excom. and fields questions.
Chair announces members of the Elections Committee for Excom. approval.

Mid-August or earlier

Election Committee meets to make plans for compiling and distributing ballot materials, including how to get ballot information to members who cannot be reached by email.

September 1

Deadline for anyone wanting to run as a petition candidate to submit their petition to the Nominating Committee.

September Excom.

Nominating Committee presents written report to Excom. announcing slate of candidates and any petition candidates and the candidate statements.
Election Committee presents written progress report to Excom. and fields questions.

October 1

Election Committee finalizes all ballot info and candidate statements.

Month of October

Election Committee prepares Marketing Cloud email with all voting information to be sent to all members with email addresses on November 1. Election Committee prepares postcard with voting information to be sent to all members who do not have an email address and sends the postcard so members receive it on or before Nov. 1.

November 1

Election opens. Marketing Cloud mails are sent. Postcards arrive.

Midnight November 30

Close of election

December 1

Election Committee meets to certify the results. Election Committee notifies candidates of results. The Election Committee explains to elected candidates that they are invited to attend the December Excom. and that they will be formally seated at the January Excom. meeting.

December Excom. meeting

Results are formally reported to Excom. by Election Committee.
Newly elected Excom. members are encouraged to attend this meeting and are introduced.

January Excom. meeting

Reorganization meeting. Newly elected excom members take office. Outgoing members are thanked for their service. New officers are elected. New chair makes further appointments as needed, particularly secretary and treasurer if those posts have not been filled by elected members.

February Turtle Tracks

New excom members and officers are announced to the membership.

March Turtle Tracks

Schedule for next election is announced.
