This year, the Loxahatchee Group's Elaine Usherson Environmental Scholarship fund totaling $2,100 was allocated to three environmentally-friendly organizations. The largest portion, $1,600, went towards camp scholarships which enabled four elementary-age girls and one middle school-age boy to attend the City of Greenacres Camp. In addition, two $250 donations were made to FAU's Green School Award and to the Junk Camp at West Palm Beach's Resource Depot, Inc.
The Youth Services Director, Jowie Mohammed, extends his gratitude and appreciation to the Loxahatchee Group on behalf all the campers and their families: “On behalf of the Youth Programs Department, and especially the five (5) participants in our summer camp that you provided scholarships to, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for your time and scholarships to our summer camp. The families you assisted are extremely appreciative of your scholarships. Two of the children are from single-parent homes and three live with their grandparents. I cannot think of any other families who were more deserving of your camp scholarships. We truly appreciate your generous donation, support and value your involvement in this community! Thank you very much again for your summer camp scholarships!”
