The SC Entity Blog Post Content Type can be used to represent an event and have a date in the future.
This appears as a Publish Event/Date underneath the body of the blog.
Generally, this can be ignored, if the created date of the Blog is a sufficient representation.
The intention here is to not have events put here in place of Campfire Events -- Having things in campfire events has lots of benefits for exposure of events beyond your own website. But this could be used in a couple of ways:
- One to just promote an Event in a different way. One current downside of Campfire Events is that we don't have a good thumbnail image that we can use in lists (we hope to fix this in 2025), and this allows you to have images.
- Secondly, it could also be used for post event information sharing.
- Thirdly, just more prominently highlighting a particular event like a fundraiser or an event you need to market a little bit differently for different audiences.
Once you have featured events, you can use both the Blog Paragraph, and a Blog Index page to show events coming up in the future (choose events sort from the dropdown). You don't have to have a taxonomy, but this might be useful as well.
You could also use the Featured Content paragraph to display the blog (you'd have to remember to take this paragraph down after the event is passed, or at least change the content to reflect that the event is in the past).
On the blog, you'd just need to remember to create a prominent link to the Event, styled as a button perhaps.
