Martha Holly Loew

Nominating Committee candidate

I have been active in environmental issues and the Sierra Club all my life, and am running for an at-large position in the Atlantic Chapter because this is such a crucial time to make real changes. I will advocate for changes from the global community to every home.

We have all just come down from the “high” of an incredible statement to the world with the Peoples Climate March. That amazing event can either be one thunder clap heard around the world, that ends there, or the impetus for the changes that must happen.

It is important for Sierra Club to make sure that our change campaigns include ways for the individual to contribute to the climate change fight in their daily lives. We all remember the effective campaign to change to compact fluorescents. That was something an individual could do. As a chapter delegate I will push to include a similar campaign in the overall strategy for our climate change programs.

As a Chapter we must continue our battle to keep New York safe from the giant gas industry who plan to sell our resources overseas, and profit from our destruction.
