Al has been a hero for the environment in his years as Assemblyman. He has penned and passed many important bills and always includes environmental concerns in his approach. This year he has been a strong proponent of the Heat Act, and authored a new bill “Bucks Boilers” which will provide low and medium income families with grants to allow them to electrify their homes. He has pushed heat pump induction stoves and always focuses on getting state funding for environmental projects. He also included an All electric buildings act. Al is Chair of economic developments and works to get a long term view for the business community and tries to convince the business community that doing nothing is not an option and that things like extreme weather events even disrupts the business community. He feels they have to be part of the solution.

She also co-sponsored legislation that would require the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to publish a list of “high local environmental impact zones” and consider various factors that contribute to a community’s environmental health (A.1779) and a measure to amend the state constitution to include the right to clean air and water and a healthful environment (A.2064).
Assembly District #129: William Magnarelli
Assemblyman Magnarelli has always been a champion for the environment and environmental causes. He supported the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. Assemblyman Magnarelli helped pass a 2024-25 state budget that invests $2.5 billion for the environment, including $500 million for clean water infrastructure and $400 million for the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF). He also supported the legislation to require “all electric” in new building construction. Assemblyman Magnarelli also sponsors two bills of environmental importance in this current Legislative Session: A.252, which requires that all printed political campaign mailing pieces containing or made of recyclable material to include a message about recycling the printed materials; and A.9472, The Resilient Electric Vehicle Charging Pilot Program, which would facilitate the use of small hydroelectric facilities as centers for the charging of electric vehicles (EV’s) in order to increase infrastructure for EV charging throughout New York State. Assemblyman Magnarelli, as Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee, also worked with his North Country colleagues to craft a bill to address the harmful effects of road salt on the Adirondack Park.
