Editor's Note: Linda was the Chair of the Chapter's Nuclear, and Biodiversity/Vegetarian Outreach committees, and was also a past member of the Chapter's Executive Committee. Donations in Linda's memory can be made to People For Animal Rights, PO Box 15358, Syracuse, New York 13215 - 0358.

In a freak accident, on June 10, 2020, the world suddenly lost one of the most ardent, knowledgeable and tirelessly dogged defenders of the environment and of animals, Linda DeStefano.

Linda was a purist, believing with her heart and soul that if we pursued an unwavering course to protect animals and the ecology we could change the world into a better place. As president and co-founder of People for Animal Rights, and as conservation chair of the Iroquois Group of the Sierra Club, you would always see Linda holding signs at rallies, lobbying elected officials, be present at hearings and writing letters to the editor. She was extremely respectful with those who might disagree with her, but unfaltering in her position to create a flawless world. She walked the walk, encouraging vegan cooking and public transportation.

Linda and her husband of forty years, Dr. Richard Weiskopf were also involved in issues of social justice and voting integrity and they were often seen at those rallies together.

The Iroquois Group and entire Atlantic Chapter mourn the loss of Linda DeStefano. The world is a better place because of her having walked amongst us. May we continue her legacy in our own advocacy of conservation.
