Hanna Atlas 2019 Bio

Inspired by my father's work as a chemical and mechanical engineer, I’ve been keenly aware of environmental impacts since childhood. Those early lessons led me to complete a degree in architecture and a Master’s in Urban Environmental Systems Management at Pratt Institute. There, I completed work on the historical preservation of international cities facing environmental instability, my current passion. Other areas of expertise include energy efficiency and solid waste management.

My background in community engagement allows me to confidently lead complex team projects. I envision challenging yet achievable goals and empower teams to meet objectives. I’m known as a thorough researcher who can tie unique details to the big picture. Curiosity, critical thinking, working on data, and creating solutions are some of my strengths.

My search for an organization involved in environmental advocacy and action led me to the Sierra Club. I quickly realized how influential this organization is and felt my time and energy would be well spent advancing the mission to defend everyone’s right to a healthy world. At present, I’m excited to be working with committees dealing with plastic, urban sustainability and nuclear power.

I’m interested in joining the NYC Group’s Executive Committee to facilitate public awareness and action. I will use my community engagement background and experience to help formulate and advance strategic initiatives and achievable goals to help save the world.
