Executive Committee Report Winter 2014

At its fall meeting in Yonkers, the ExCom discussed some of the constitutional amendments on the ballot, and voted to oppose ballot proposal number five, which would have approved a land swap in the Adirondacks. Looking ahead to the 2014 election, the ExCom began the process of making endorsements in congressional races, though final endorsements require the concurrence of the National Political Committee.

Activists working on two issues in the Lower Hudson area — closing the Indian Point nuclear power plant and stopping the construction of a proposed desalination plant in Rockland County — gave reports on recent hopeful developments, and several new appointments were made to the Indian Point Task Force.

The ExCom also considered aspects of the Chapter’s finances, including the cost of maintaining several ongoing lawsuits, and scheduled a December conference call to adopt the budget for 2014.
