Trail Maintenance Volunteers Needed

Atlantic Chapter Outings Committee Volunteer Trail Maintenance Work

Trail work involves repairing blazes, pruning overgrowing shrubs, and removing fallen trees.  Willingness to help is far more important than previous experience.  There is a nice mixture of work and socializing on these trips.  Give something back to the hiking community.  Whenever someone hikes on the trail you maintain, you will be partly responsible for their great day in the woods.  We will provide training, if necessary.  Contact Norman Blumenstein if you are interested.

To be put on on the notification list of maintenance trips, subscribe to the Impromptu Outings Notification List.

The Atlantic Chapter Outings Committee currently has the responsibility for maintaining the Jessup trail on Schunemunk Mountain.  Mike Ribnicki maintains this trail for the ACOC, and he was recently commended by the Schunemunk supervisor for his work in restoring a long-neglected stretch of trail.

After 15 years, Larry Luxenberg has resigned from maintaining the Sweet Clover Trail on Schunemunk Mountain.  We are very grateful to Larry for his part in keeping the network of trails in shape for hiking for such a long time.
