Sun Tran will introduce its first electric bus into service starting Sunday, May 17...
- The electric bus is powered only by battery and produces zero-emissions, contributing to cleaner and healthier air in Tucson.
- In addition, it provides a quieter and more comfortable ride for passengers.
- Sun Tran has purchased and expects to receive five additional electric buses later this year, paid for with funding awarded by the Federal Transit Administration’s Low-No Emission Grant program.
- Tucson Electric Power upgraded Sun Tran’s electrical system and installed a new bus charging system at no cost to Sun Tran.
Since 2006, 100 percent of Sun Tran’s fleet is powered by clean fuel technology.
