TUCSON RECEIVES GRANT FOR ELECTRIC BUSES -

The City of Tucson this week was awarded a $3,757,100 grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for the purchase of new zero-emission buses.

The City last summer purchased its first electric bus for the Sun Tran fleet with a $2.6 million FTA grant.

“This funding will allow Tucson to expand our electric bus fleet with five additional Sun Tran buses in order to promote a more sustainable and resilient future,” said Tucson Mayor Regina Romero. “These buses are an important step in reducing our city’s carbon footprint, keeping our air clean, and protecting public health, especially for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.”
