Earth Day 2018: Southern California activities

Here are activities happening in and around Earth Day.

Zero Waste Fair Expo
1 to 3 p.m., April 7
Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles

The Angeles Chapter Zero Waste Team will be hosting an educational Zero Waste Fair-Expo that will teach you how to get on the right path to cutting down on what you throw away. Meet organizations that are modeling what a zero-waste lifestyle looks like. Bring your family to this fun event that will feature music, food and more. The event is free and open to all.

Transit to Trails Launch Party

April 7th 9am-12pm Pasadena Grab your TAP cards, wear your hiking boots and join us in celebrating the launch of the Pasadena Transit to Trails shuttle! 

Santa Monica College Earth Day

Shop a FREE farmers market for fresh, local fruit and veggies thanks to Club Grow and Food Forward. Attend workshops on growing and making healthy, delicious food.

2nd Annual KCET Environmental Film Festival

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 21

Spend the day seeing planet-friendly movies such as National Geographic's documentary about Jane Goodall ("Jane"), "Love & Bananas: An Elephant Story" and more. Screenings will take place at Monica’s Laemmle Monica Theatre on Second Street in Santa Monica. Sierra Club, Heal the Bay and others will be on hand. Earth Day LA 2018 Conserve and Sustain
Los Angeles Sanitation
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 21

More than 50 exhibitors will turn out for this day dedicated to sustainability and conservation. There will be entertainment, a kid's zone, tree and plant giveaway, sustainability workshops and more. Meet at the Highland Park Recreation Center, 6150 Piedmont Ave., Los Angeles. Free admission and open to all.

Sierra Club Echo Park Picnic and Fundraiser
11 a.m. to 2 p.m

Celebrate an early Earth Day and help protect the planet at a picnic to raise funds for the Sierra Club, the nation’s largest and most influential environmental grassroots organization. Enjoy a picnic with delicious food from the park's restaurant Beacon, guided historical tours of the revitalized Echo Park Lake, paddle boat rides, good music, and a raffle. During the entire month of April, Beacon will donate $1 when you bring your own cup (and mention Sierra Club) or order a Quinoa or Farro + Pesto Bowl.

CicLAvia Heart of the Foothills

9am-4pm  April 22nd CicLAvia kicks off 2018 with a brand new route - Heart of the Foothills - on Sunday, April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day! The country’s largest open streets event will connect the City of San Dimas, the City of La Verne, the City of Pomona and the City of Claremont! Streets will be closed to cars and open for cyclists, pedestrians, runners and skaters to use as a recreational space!

City of Stem Closing Ceremonies

10 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 28

There will be tables from all of our different partners, live music, food trucks and activities suitable for all ages. This will be a perfect event to bring the whole family. Don't miss out as we finish off this month long celebration of City of STEM events and Earth day. Admission is free and open to all.
