SIERRA CLUB RESCINDS ITS ENDORSEMENT OF JOSEF BRAY-ALI FOR ELECTION IN LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 1
LOS ANGELES, CA - The Sierra Club Angeles Chapter retracts its recent endorsement of Josef Bray-Ali for the L.A. City Council District 1 seat. The recent revelation of Bray-Ali’s statements and postings on various websites of derogatory, racist remarks reflect a pattern of offensive and disturbing behavior and the lack of core values and principles which Sierra Club does not tolerate and condone.
In response, Sharon Koch, Angeles Chapter Chair, states:
“The Sierra Club believes strongly in equitable, inclusive treatment of all persons. We cannot support a candidate who does not share those beliefs and whose actions contradict the values we promote and foster. Incorporating the precepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion into the Sierra Club’s political work is critical to the success of its movement.”
