There's no better time to volunteer than right now. Angeles Chapter is launching a new 2017 series called Cultivating Conservation. These are sessions designed to strengthen your self development and leadership skills as well as motivate you to engage existing and new Sierra Club members.
Through a variety of Interactive workshops, you'll be given the tools to not only recruit volunteers within your group but in Sierra Club overall. All events are free and open to the public.
Upcoming sessions (RSVP here):
*10am- 1pm Engaging New Volunteer Workshop
Presentation by Whitney Pearson Sierra Club Associate Organizing Representative.
3250 Wilshire Blvd Ste 1507 Los Angeles, CA 90010
Who should sign up? We welcome everyone -- newcomers who've never taken action on a cause or issue and experienced volunteers who want to be more effective and make a bigger difference in the environmental community.
Would-be activists are sometimes overwhelmed by choices or worried “they don't know enough” about a specific issue. Come learn from experienced members who share their knowledge and stories of success in addressing issues in a positive and effective way.
You'll learn "followship” too: Conservation campaigns are much more effective when all members have an understanding of which conservation strategies and actions work best.
The Chapter seeks to train more members to become active in conservation and create more experts on environmental issues. In this way, you'll transition from "activist" to "organizer." The difference is subtle, but results from being a trained “organizer” can make the difference between a wildly successful conservation campaign and a good but less-effective conservation effort.
