Dear Members and Supporters,
The Sierra Club believes all people deserve a healthy planet with clean air and water, a stable climate and safe communities.
That means all people deserve equal protection under the law and the right to a life free of discrimination, hatred and violence.
That is why the Sierra Club stands in solidarity with all of those saying Black Lives Matter, demanding justice, accountability, and action to confront racism and inequality. We can do better and by standing together to work for the changes that are needed, we will.
Join the Sierra Club at Courage Against Racism for a presentation and panel discussion with a special focus on surveillance and repression.
This event is a partnership between the Sierra Club, White People 4 Black Lives, Stop LAPD Spying Coalition, Black Lives Matter Pasadena and Los Angeles, and the Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church.

Hamid Khan of the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition will provide an overview of surveillance in Los Angeles and its impact on privacy, organizing, and protesting. A panel discussion will follow the presentation and will include: Hamid Khan (Stop LAPD Spying Coalition), Jasmine Abdullah (Black Lives Matter Pasadena), and a representative from the Black Lives Matter Legal Counsel. The panel will be moderated by Karen Hilfman (White People 4 Black Lives).
There is a suggested donation of $10-$25, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. All proceeds will benefit the Black Lives Matter-LA legal defense.
As Sierra Club Executive Director, Michael Brune commented, "It is easy to avoid facing the ugliness of racism from a position of privilege. Environmental justice means all of our communities can live on a livable planet -- that means racial justice, too."
Come out to Courage Against Racism on July 31! RSVP now!
Thanks for all you do,
