The Angeles Chapter Sierra Club is made up of groups based on regions in Los Angeles and Orange counties. In 2015, the Executive Committee voted to place the Central Group under reorganization. This decision was based upon the group’s difficulty in meeting the minimum standards required for groups as established by the Sierra Club.
The Central Group lies in the heart of the Angeles Chapter area.
If you live in the Central Group area, this is your opportunity to decide what you want your local Sierra Club to look like:
- What types of meetings would you like to have?
- How often would you like to meet?
- What kinds of outings should the group sponsor?
- Which environmental issues are of particular concern to you – additional green space, air quality, transportation, water quality, environmental justice?
- How would you like your Sierra Club group to approach these issues?
- How much time would you be willing to devote to making the Central Group the location where like-minded community members can engage with one another to address issues of mutual concern in a social and convivial atmosphere?
If these issues matter to you, please consider participating in a reorganization kick-off meeting to be held at a time and location convenient for all. Participation by concerned Sierra Club members residing outside the Central Group area are also encouraged to help.
If you're interested, you can call the Chapter office at (213) 387-4287 and tell us to count you in or sign up to become a Central regional group pathfinder. Or you can send a message to Chapter Chair Sharon Koch at slkoch@ix.netcom.com. Participants who respond by July 15 will be contacted to arrange a meeting in late July.
