Have a solution to the California drought? Play the Innovation Games: Water

Think you have a good idea on how to save water and help California during its crippling drought? Or just have a great water-saving or water-protecting idea? Here's your chance to share your idea and get help implementing it too.

The Sierra Club Angeles Chapter has joined forces with Northern Rift Inc. to launch a new and fun public outreach project about saving water. It's called the Innovation Games: Water. It's free to participate and open to all.

Play along starting May 4 by going to the Innovation Games website. You have just 12 days to participate before the games close (they'll send you messages about how it all works once the games open).

Go to the Innovation Games website, register for free and share your idea. Check back repeatedly to see how people react to your idea and what ideas others have come up with. You then get to vote on your favorite -- and yours may be selected. The idea isn't to "win" (though that's fun too!) but to engage hundreds and thousands of Southern Californians to think about conservation and preservation of water in a fresh, new way. Collaboration is the key to making this project work.

Let's face it, California is in the worst drought in history, and water is essential to the economic success of cities and nations.

No one escapes the cost of drought, so it's in all of our interests to engage, communicate and innovate on what to do next.

Innovation Games aims to engage everyone to be part of the solution in a fun, online contest of idea building. From home consumers, to university students, to tech companies and start-ups to industry leaders, the objective is to deliver a volume of new ideas in action that will impact Southern California.

What happens to the idea that gets the most votes? You may win a prize. But Northern Rift has designed uses technology and process, combined with the scale of digital plus on-the ground team engagement in workshops, to bring the best ideas to life. And that benefits everyone.

So play along starting May 4 by going to the Innovation Games website.
