Exploring Wild Alabama, Thursday, October 25 at 6:00pm

North Alabama Sierra Club Presents "Wild Alabama" Ken Wills and Larry Davenport as they give a photo presentation on some of Alabama’s lesser known publically accessible natural areas featured in their book, Exploring Wild Alabama, which covers over 150 sites across the state ranging from the Walls of Jericho to Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries.  Books will be available for purchase and signing by the authors. The North Alabama Sierra Club meetings start at 6:00pm in the training room of the National Children’s Advocacy Center at 210 Pratt Avenue. Outings

Hike Ratings

Easy - Less than 5 miles, no serious elevation changes, no trail obstacles.

Moderate - 5 to 10 miles, some elevation changes or rough trail (rock hopping), or trail obstacles such as creek crossings.

Strenuous - Over 10 miles, substantial elevation change, rocky, obstructed or nonexistent trail.

Exploratory - any event where the leader has not experienced the event; may fit any class above.

Note. Participants of Sierra Club outings are required to sign a waiver.

 

Oct 13 (Sat) Monte Sano 6-7 mile - Moderate Hike

Cooler fall weather makes it a great time to enjoy Huntsville’s jewel.  We will explore trails in the State Park. Experiencing the beauty of the State Park..  Dress for the weather, including sturdy shoes. Bring a camera, water, snacks and some cash for the park entrance.  Meet at the Hikers Parking Lot at 8:30 am, the hike leaves at 9:00 am sharp. Leashed dogs welcome. Oct. 27 (Sat) ‘'A Spirited Adventure at Lake Guntersville State Park.'  Strenuous hike.

Join Charlie and me on an approximate 11.5 mile up, down and around the mountains at Lake Guntersville SP.  To celebrate Halloween and another former spirited endeavor in the area, we'll share related trivia during our breaks.  This is a limited group-size hike.
