You may have noticed something different in this issue of Sierra. Or, rather, quite a few things. We've overhauled the magazine's design, stripping away extraneous elements to focus on what we do best: bring you captivating stories, photos, and illustrations. The look, we hope, is cleaner and easier to read.

The biggest change is that we've organized the magazine's departments to align with the Sierra Club's long-standing motto: Explore, enjoy, and protect the planet. The "Explore" section takes you to places, some near and some far, where nature inspires. "Enjoy" offers interviews, DIY tips, and product reviews to help you live a greener lifestyle. "Protect" gives you news about environmental issues that are important to Club members--such as stopping climate disruption, promoting the shift to clean energy, and saving America's precious wilderness--with an increased emphasis on how you can join the fight.

To kick it all off, we've changed our cover logo. Created by award-winning designer Jeremy Mickel, it's a modernized polish of our magazine's previous mark, with a hint of Western swagger.

As with all redesigns, this one's a work in progress, so please let us know what you think.
