The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has now opened the 30-day a public comment period for PG&E's License Surrender Application for the Eel River Dams, and the deadline for comments has been extended to Dec 19th 2pm PST. It is recommended comments be submitted 1-2 days earlier, so TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!
Come learn how to submit your comments via the FERC website or by snail mail with representatives from the Sierra Club and Cal Trout who can walk you through the process.
FERC needs to hear why YOU care about the Eel River. Here are some sample talking points:
- The Eel River dams need to be removed quickly for the health of the river, the salmon, and the communities who depend on it.
- The best choice for dam removal is a 2-year "Rapid Removal," which will cause the LEAST HARM to Eel River fisheries.
- There is BROAD SUPPORT for Dam Removal in the Eel and Russian River communities, thanks to the 2-Basin Solution that protects Fish and Water Users.
- PG&E Ratepayers are tired of paying for the failed Potter Valley Project hydroelectric plant, which offers no benefit to customers.
