Green Transportation Workshop
Connecting Mass Transit in the Northeast
The Sierra Club Northeast Regional Activist Network is hosting a special workshop for new and experienced Sierra Club (and non S. C.) activists to map out and begin implementing the Club's vision for green transportation in the Northeastern U. S.
Participants will:
- Learn about the laws and policies that shape our current transportation system
- Work in groups to draw vision maps for regional transportation choices
- Find out about federal and state opportunities to move our transportation system into the 21st Century
- Plan a coordinated campaign to take action over the next year at both local and national levels

The long-term goal for the workshop is to develop Chapter Transportation Teams to work towards a regional rail system with high speed passenger connections to all major cities in the Northeast and with universal freight transport. We also plan to mobilize transportation volunteers to work with mayors and other community officials to develop local plans through the Cool Cities or similar on-going campaigns.
