SIERRA CLUB REFLECTS ON KATRINA’S TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY

EXPERTS LIST FOR HURRICANE KATRINA COVERAGE

When Hurricane Katrina struck, the Sierra Club already had an extensive network of volunteers and staff living and working along the Gulf Coast. These resilient, dedicated residents began immediately helping people to recover and to rebuild safe and healthy communities. Sierra Club’s efforts have included exposing and forcing resolution to the problem of formaldehyde in emergency housing; community partnership efforts to ensure that hurricane debris was not dumped on low-income communities and people of color; and assisting residents in rebuilding their homes using green building practices and solar energy to save time, money and the environment.

To assist reporters in covering the impacts and lessons of Hurricane Katrina, we have compiled a list of Sierra Club experts in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas as well as key national staff. If you would like to speak to any of these experts, please contact Oliver Bernstein 512-289-8618.
