Endorsed by the Sierra Club, Dahlkemper was the only candidate who pledged to run a carbon-neutral campaign. She supports fighting global warming and that being green can co-exist with business, facilitating the advancement of technology and the creation of green jobs. She wants to end subsidies for oil-related industries and transition those targets to alternative energy and new technology, and supports tax breaks for solar and wind, and for more efficient use of oil and coal.

Thompson supports alternative fuels, drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and "clean coal" technologies.
