December 2023 Newsletter

Dear valued volunteers, generous donors, and steadfast supporters,

I hope this edition of our Chapter Newsletter finds you and your loved ones well. It's been a dramatic year for all of us who care about Ohio's environment, and it's deepened my appreciation for Sierra Club's members, donors, volunteers, and supporters. You continue to show up and do what needs to be done to protect our wild places, natural resources and communities.

As we reflect on the accomplishments of the past year, we are filled with gratitude for your unwavering commitment to our cause. Your selfless contributions have been the driving force behind our achievements.

To our dedicated volunteers: Your time, energy, and passion have brought our programs to life. Your commitment to making a difference has left an indelible mark on the lives we touch.

To our generous donors: Your financial support has been the cornerstone of our success. Your belief in our mission empowers us to reach new heights and impact even more lives.

To our steadfast supporters: Your advocacy and encouragement fuel our determination. Your belief in the power of positive change inspires us to push boundaries and create lasting impact.

As we look forward to the coming year, we are confident that, with your continued support, we will achieve even greater milestones. Thank you for being the heart and soul of our organization.

2023: A Monumental Year for Clean Energy in Cleveland

This year, Sierra Club Ohio was pivotal in bringing Cleveland closer to its 100% clean energy goal. Through our advocacy efforts with the Sustainable Ohio Public Energy Council (SOPEC), Cleveland residents can now access affordable, 100% clean energy. This is a significant step towards a brighter future for our city and the planet.

But the fight doesn't stop here. Click the link below to learn how you can get involved with Ohio's Community Advocates Training Program.

Political Committee Helps Pass Amendment

Picture of Micheal Melampy smiling

Thanks to work by Ohio Sierra Club's Political Committee and its Steering Committee, the Ohio Sierra Club endorsed the recently approved reproductive rights amendment. This action reinforced the campaign waged by Ohioans for Reproductive Rights and demonstrated that Sierra Club considers basic human health to be an integral part of environment protection. Our success in passing the amendment provides a good example of what can happen when different organizations pool their resources to achieve a common goal. Let's hope we see more of this collaboration during the 2024 election year.
