Final Status:

Jursidiction
Arkansas - Oil and Gas Commission
Summary
As gas companies drill wells, they often generate significant amounts of "drilling mud" -- specially-formulated drilling fluid -- and waste fluids. If companies store these wastes in pits, rather than properly disposing of them, they can leach into groundwater and cause other pollution problems. Arkansas is updating its pit regulations.
Updates

Public hearing on General Rule B-17, well drilling and completion pit requirements and General Rule H-1, disposal well application and permit procedures and other recent relevant changes in commission rules. Hearing is at 2pm on Thursday, September 22, 2011.
