Univision News interviewed Club spokesperson Javier Sierra about the Trump administration's announcement of its Dirty Power Plan, which, according to the EPA, will cause the premature deaths of 1,400 people each year, many of them Latinos.

English subtitles are available and here is the English transcript of the piece:

Anchor intro
The Trump administration announced that low- and middle-income families will pay less for their electricity now that toxic pollution from power plans limits have been lowered.

But as Fernando Pizarro reports, especially Latinos will pay higher costs in other ways.

Script
The country’s coal-burning plants will not have to reduce their toxic emissions.

The decision, according to the Trump administration, will make electricity cheaper for low- and middle-income families.

Wheeler SB
The rule of Affordable Clean Power will provide the states the necessary regulatory certainty to reduce emissions and provide cheap, reliable energy to American consumers.

On the other hand, environmental groups argue that the new rule will impact many Latino communities.

Javier SB 1
That is not true, it's a fallacy. Saying that eliminating those protection will benefit the economy is not true, it's the complete opposite. What the Dirty Power Plan that the Trump administration is trying to impose on all of us actually does is killing people. According to the EPA itself, this plan will cause the premature deaths of 1,400 people each year.

Toxic emissions are to be reduced by 75%, as suggested by the International Energy Agency.

The new rule requires a reduction of only 35%.

According to environmental groups, the Trump administration is going backwards.

Javier SC 2:
Up until two and half years ago, the US was the main engine in the fight against the climate crisis. Ever since then, the US has become the world's worst obstacle in the fight against the climate crisis. Mr. Trump is the only world leader that denies the climate science.

Standup:
Even though environmental groups will take the administration to court because of this new rule, it must be stated that the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan was also challenged and stopped in court and I even got all the way to the Supreme Court.
