Techway

What is the Techway?
Running from Route 28 near Dulles Airport, through the historic C&O Park and adjoining national wildlife management areas, the "techway" would cross the Potomac, slash through protected farmland, and to I-270 near Rockville and Gaithersburg. Its name stems from the idea that it would connect the Virginia and Maryland high-tech corridors.

Why the Techway is a Bad Idea:

  • The Techway will not relieve congestion, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation’s own numbers.
  • The Techway will undo existing land use plans and a protected agricultural reserve in Montgomery County
  • The Techway will open up the Virginia countryside to more sprawl development
  • The Techway does not connect key regional job centers, and does not take into account future regional growth.
