coal - state
Michigan today is at an energy crossroads to secure our economy and clean energy future. Bold, immediate leadership is required to bring new industries to Michigan- including clean, alternative energy sources like wind and solar power- before other states position themselves as leaders and draw investment in these new economy jobs. By acting now, we can make Michigan a leader in this new industry and make clean energy the profitable kind of energy. But building costly, new polluting coal plants that create few jobs puts us on the wrong track and jeopardizes Michigan’s clean energy economy. Right now, Michigan has 19 existing coal plants and 6 additional ones being proposed.
Now is the time to move away from a polluting power source of the past and towards a clean energy future. We have the resources to lead the nation in clean energy innovations, and transform our economy, but we must reject costly dirty coal plants that will burden electric ratepayers and make us less competitive with other states.
Ratepayers ask CMS Energy CEO David Joos not to be a tukey and do the right thing- drop his plans for a new coal plant.
