Sierra Club Advancement Marketing Internship

 Sierra Club Advancement Internship

Title:                          Advancement Marketing Intern          

Department:              Advancement, SF

Reports To:                Director of Communications and Marketing (DODCM)

Context:                      Provides logistical support for all aspects of the Department of Advancement’s program of communications and events to engage, cultivate, and steward major donors to the Sierra Club and Sierra Club Foundation.

Summer Application Period: April 15 to May 20

Qualification:

1.            Current college student. If you are foreign student, we cannot review your application unless you are part of a program that arranges your paperwork for you--we cannot arrange an H1B visa.
2.
            Minimum 10 hours scheduled at your discretion. Class credit may be available. We are willing to provide any documentation necessary to help students get credit

 

Activities:

1.            Works with Donor Marketing staff to create and produce invitations and other printed materials.

2.            Ensures name tags are created and other administrative tasks necessary for successful event are handled.

3.            Serves as editorial assistant to DODCM, providing assistance with proofreading, document vetting, publications production, and other related activities.

4.            Assists DODCM in the execution of events for the National Advancement Council. 

5.            Assists in the selection of hotel/lodging or restaurant options for donor events, providing cost comparisons and date availability.

6.            Assists in developing web-based event registration for major donor events using internal web tools.

7.            Works on assisting publication materials using graphic design

8.            Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 Knowledge & Skills:

·        Strong organizational skills with ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate details

·        Strong writing skills and excellent oral communication skills

·        Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

·        Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge with graphic design software a plus, but nor required

·        Ability to work with diverse groups of people

 Internship Parameters

·        Duration of internship is summer 2009, approximately three months.

·        Work commitment is 12 hours a week, preferably over three days.

·        While intern will report to Donor Communications, he/she will also support campaign and advancement office functions, as necessary.
