Entertainment Community joins Sierra Club to Thank, Support President-elect Obama
LOS ANGELES - Teaming up with Pierce Brosnan, Edward James Olmos, Bruce Greenwood and other prominent members of the entertainment community, Sierra Club today launched a new video congratulating President-elect Obama for his historic victory, thanking the new President for his strong stand on global warming and discussing the challenges we face in making Obama's vision a reality.
In the video, Edward James Olmos states, "For too long our nation's leaders have failed to curb our addiction to the fossil fuels which are warming the planet." He and the rest of the cast go on to thank the president-elect for the importance that the administration has already begun to focus on the environment.
"In this historic moment, our friends in the entertainment community are speaking with the voices of millions of Americans" says Sierra Club Executive Director, Carl Pope. "This is a time of great transition for our nation and our world, and all our hopes are tied to incoming President Obama and his visionary agenda."
The full cast list includes (in order of appearance) Pierce Brosnan, Jillian Michaels, Wilmer Valderrama, Tamara Feldman, Angelo Surmelis, Missy Higgins, Kel Mitchell, Hart Bochner, Edward James Olmos, Bruce Greenwood, Max Lugavere, Jason Silva, Diane Farr, Russ Tamblyn and Bonnie Tamblyn recorded over a song performed by Missy Higgins.
The goal of the web-video is to inspire others across the country to also send in their support and comments to incoming President Obama. "There is a lot to do, and we will all need to play a part," said Pope. "We are grateful to have so many good friends join with us in getting this hopeful message out."
