Sierra Club Applauds Obama for Travelling to Copenhagen
Presidential Presence Will Underscore America's Commitment
Washington, DC: With various media reports of the White House confirming that President Obama will attend the opening of the international climate change negotiations, the Sierra Club issues the following statement from Carl Pope, Executive Director.
"We applaud President Obama for making this trip. President Obama's attendance at these talks will demonstrate that America is giving this challenge the attention it deserves. Combined with the announcement earlier this week that the administration will offer a target for global warming pollution reductions at the talks, this announcement shows that the President is following through on his pledge to make America a leader both in the fight against global warming and in the new clean energy economy."
